White House says it is creating 'very large' dossier on Washington Post journalist and others.

This is not okay.   For the record, I hate the phrase "This is not okay", but this is NOT okay.  To be fair, I'm certain that he's not the first POTUS to create dossiers on, well, anyone.  But this is an intimidation tactic, plain and simple.  I mean, POTUS is pretty fucking lazy, so there may not be any dossiers.        'Cept, his folks will have to do whatever he tells them to do either because it's their job or because of the allure of power...and maybe out of some sick form of civic duty.        As if gathering info of journalists in order to shut them up is patriotic.        Last I checked, it was the very antithesis of the American way .      November 2nd can't get here soon enough.         This is not a myth, POTUS.

Young Justice Dropped by Cartoon Network

Really Cartoon Network? Really? Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: Young Justice Dropped by Cartoon Network via Batman: Gotham Knights Online by Garrey on 1/28/13 Cartoon Network has just released their 2013-2014 schedule of shows and there are a couple noted shows that didn't make the cut.  Below is a list of CN's returning series list: RETURNING SERIES/SPECIALS Adventure Time Regular Show Annoying Orange MAD The Amazing World of Gumball The Looney Tunes Show Ben 10 Omniverse Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc. Johnny Test Pokémon Black & White: Adventures in Unova Beyblade Metal Fury Almost Naked Animals Scaredy Squirrel Notice Young Justice and Green Lantern Animated Series is NOT listed. This comes to shock for most of us but as some of you know a lot of shows rely on the sales of toys. The Young Justice toy line along with GL did very poor. So (in my opinion) a good television program suffers due to...

Why is Wikipedia Down?

Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Why is Wikipedia Down? via mental_floss by Chris Higgins on 1/18/12 If you're in the US and you visit Wikipedia today , you'll see a glimpse of the page you were trying to access, then you'll see the blackout message above. You'll see similar messages from Google , Reddit , and others. Why? Although each of these sites does a good job of explaining its position, here's a rundown of the issues involved in today's shutdown. An Extremely Brief History Lesson In 1998, the US Congress passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), a bill that, among other things, created a simple system by which copyright owners could request that infringing content be removed from websites hosted in the US. In short, the copyright owner tells the website, "I own this video/photo/song and you have to remove it, or I'll sue you." Then it gets removed, or they go to court. Have you ever seen a YouTube vi...

96-Year-Old Tennessee Woman Denied Voter ID Because She Didn’t Have Her Marr...

BS!!!     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     96-Year-Old Tennessee Woman Denied Voter ID Because She Didn’t Have Her Marriage License via ThinkProgress by Travis Waldron on 10/5/11 Dorothy Cooper (Photo Credit: Chattanooga Times Free Press) Swept up in the craze of preventing widespread voter fraud that doesn't actually exist , Tennessee Republicans passed a voter identification law this year that they claimed would put an end to fraud and ensure fair elections. Like similar laws in other states , Tennessee's version has come under scrutiny from voting rights advocates, civil rights groups like the NAACP and ACLU, and even Democratic senators , who oppose the laws because they will disenfranchise poor, elderly, and minority voters who are less likely to have photo IDs. The state now has evidence that that will be the case. Dorothy Cooper, a 96-year-old Chattanooga resident who says she has voted in every election but one since she became el...

Man Eludes Police Surveillance by Taking off the Prosthetic Leg to Which Off...

Of course! Why not???     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Man Eludes Police Surveillance by Taking off the Prosthetic Leg to Which Officers Had Attached an Electronic Monitoring Device via Neatorama by John Farrier on 8/29/11 We often post stupid criminal stories here at Neatorama. This isn't one of them. No, this fellow was most cunning. Christopher Lowcock wrapped up his prosthetic leg in bandages. When private contractors hired by the police attached an electronic monitoring device to him, they wrapped it around the false leg. Then Lowcock took it off whenever he needed to move about town without being traced: Lowcock could then simply remove his leg – and the tag – whenever he wanted to breach his court-imposed curfew for driving and drug offences, as well as possession of an offensive weapon. A second G4S officer who went to check the monitoring equipment also failed to carry out the proper test. Managers became suspicious last month...

Elizabeth Edwards Funeral To Be Picketed By Westboro Baptist Church

Fucking assholes!!! Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: Elizabeth Edwards Funeral To Be Picketed By Westboro Baptist Church via The Huffington Post | Full News Feed by The Huffington Post News Editors on 12/9/10 Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church will be dispatching members of its congregation to protest the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards this Saturday, CNN reports . The church has generated controversy with its confrontational and offensive demonstrations. "God Hate Fags" has become an unofficial calling card of the group, a phrase they say the world "needs to hear more than it needs oxygen, water and bread." Another Westboro sign, "Thank God For Dead Soldiers," is frequently displayed at military funerals and has created its own share of outrage. In a promotional flier for the upcoming protest, the church references John and Elizabeth Edwards's son Wade, who died in a car crash in 1996: Read More... More on Elizabeth...

Guatemala Sinkhole Is Massive, Swallows Building (PICTURE)

Holy Shit!     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Guatemala Sinkhole Is Massive, Swallows Building (PICTURE) via The Huffington Post | Full News Feed by The Huffington Post News Editors on 6/1/10 JUAN CARLOS LLORCA, Associated Press Writer GUATEMALA CITY - Torrential rains brought by the first tropical storm of the 2010 season pounded Central America and southern Mexico, triggering deadly landslides. The death toll stood at 15 Sunday but authorities said the number could rise. Tropical Storm Agatha made landfall near the border of Guatemala and Mexico on Saturday with wind speeds of up to 45 mph (75 kph), then weakened into a tropical depression before dissipating over the mountains of western Guatemala. Although no longer even a tropical depression, Agatha still posed trouble for the region: Remnants of the storm were expected to deliver 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 centimeters) of rain over southeastern Mexico, Guatemala and parts of El Salvador...

Six More Weeks of Winter

So yesterday, that damn rodent stuck his head out of the ground and informed us lowly bipeds that we're in for 6 more weeks of winter. And then, f*ck me running, several inches of snow fell from the ground that VERY night! If that don't beat all! When I heard about our good friend, Phil finding his shadow and dooming us to six more weeks of teeth chattering, digit numbing, scrotum shrinking hell, I was at once wishing that Phil would find his shadow at the bottom stew pot! Six more weeks of this ? C'mon! But, that minor outrage was replaced by a sobering reality; I'm a 35 year old man. I am really young BUT, old enough to embrace Latin. Tempus Fugit. I have found myself using the above statement more and more lately . Case in point, the link I just laid down in the last sentence. I could've sworn that that entry was made three months ago. That was almost a year ago. When I was a kid, my mother used to ask me what day it was. "Silly Mommy", I...

Ravenous Clock Runs Backward, Scares Children

Freaky!     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Ravenous Clock Runs Backward, Scares Children via Wired: Top Stories by Lucas Graves on 2/10/09 At first glance, it doesn't look like a clock. There's the giant fanged insect on top. And instead of hands, it uses glowing blue LEDs to tell the time. Called the Corpus Clock —it's installed at Corpus Christi College in Cambridge, England—the timepiece was designed by John Taylor , an alumnus, clock collector, and lifelong inventor who wanted to blend 18th-century tech with a hypermodern aesthetic. The bug is called a Chronophage , or time-eater, and it's actually a scarier version of the grasshopper escapement , a 1720s breakthrough that transformed clock making. But in this case the pendulum-driven heart is wedded to a silicon brain, which lets the device do surprisingly un-clocklike things—slow down, stop, even run backward. "I wanted a clock that would play with you," Taylor says. How st...
