Historical Thursday: SODIS Solution

Coolness!     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Historical Thursday: SODIS Solution via There, I Fixed It - Epic Kludge Photos by Ms. Fix-It on 5/13/10 So, I'm a total nerd. Every year for Christmas the only gift I request of my husband is to renew my subscription to National Geographic. While finding clean water to support the population of Sub-Saharan Africa is an ongoing problem, in 2006 Ibelatha Mhelela, the principal at a primary school in Tanzania, implemented a simple solution. Legendary artist Frank Frazetta dies at 82

Didn't need to see this.     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Legendary artist Frank Frazetta dies at 82 via Forces of Geek by Maxo on 5/10/10 The sad news that has been buzzing around the Internet today has been confirmed — legendary fantasy artist Frank Frazetta has died at the age of 82 . The cause of death has been given as a stroke. Frazetta's iconic work is instantly recognizable to anyone who has read fantasy novels, browsed through yearly calendars or picked up a metal album. Known mostly for his commercial work, Frazetta essentially invented the look of modern fantasy art with his lush paintings of fantastic and fearsome beasts, rough-hewn men, and women seemingly coaxed from the smoothest and deadliest alabaster. Even you didn't know the name, you knew the work; Tarzan, John Carter from Mars, Conan the Barbarian and his own creation, the Death Dealer, were all given the Frazetta stamp, cementing the image of these and other characters for gener

Love it!!! Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: Darth Vader Gives Directions Only Slightly Better than He Takes Them via Topless Robot on 5/5/10 Specifically, car directions, as UK users of TomTom GPSes can now download Darth Vader's voice for them. Frankly, I'd think TomTom could just automatically send Vader's voice to all of their subscribers and charge them all the 13 pounds because fuck it, who doesn't want Darth Vader as their GPS? I can't even imagine. Speaking of can't even imagine, apparently Yoda's voice is due in June, C-3PO's voice will be available in July, and -- here's where it gets weird -- Han Solo's voice will be released in August. Um, the hell? I know Harrison Ford didn't sign up for this. Or did he? Does Lucasfilm have a new young Solo voice? Did Harrison Ford get so drunk on the set of the Crystal Skull that TomTom employees could secretly record his drunken ramblings, which they've been painstakin
