The Trick To Twenty-Ten.

I haven't written anything deep in a while because frankly, I've been a complete lazy ass. That being said, it's not like I have nothing of any real importance to say; contrary to popular belief, I do have thoughts that transcend the here and now. I think about all things existential and transcendental...whether I want to or not. But as I said before, I'm a lazy ass, so getting around to getting these thoughts out of the space between my ears took some time. I’ll be the first to admit that 2010 held high expectations. Expectations that turned out to be a bit too high. And I’m not just talkin’ personal. I’m talkin’ global. Things were supposed to be bigger and better in 2010 whether it was verbalized collectively or said as a silently as if one prays to one’s deity. This year was supposed to be “The Year Of The Future”? The year of the flying car, jet packs, dehydrated food, floating apartments, teleporters, telepathy and other things future related. Weren’t we s

Time-Lapse Video of Last Night’s Lunar Eclipse

Nerd. Out. Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: Time-Lapse Video of Last Night’s Lunar Eclipse via Geekosystem by Robert Quigley on 12/21/10 Last night presented an ultra-rare treat for astronomy buffs: Not only was there a total lunar eclipse beginning at about 12:30am EST, but the eclipse coincided with the arrival of the winter solstice for the first time in 372 years. Shooting from Gainesville, Florida, William Castleman created the above time-lapse video of last night's eclipse, condensing the lunar action from 1:10 AM EST to 5:03 AM EST into 2 minutes. Early Review: Firebreather Movie

I really enjoyed this; gotta give Firebreather it's props! Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: Early Review: Firebreather Movie via ComicVine Site Mashup by G-Man on 11/23/10 Cartoon Network is airing two comic related movie events this week. I reviewed Young Justice last week and now it's time to look at Firebreather , airing Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 7 p.m. ET/PT. This is Cartoon Network's first original CGI movie event based on the comic by Phil Hester . For those not familiar with the comic, it deals with Duncan and tells the story of a teenager discovering he's different . The story begins with Duncan already aware he has powers and coping with a move to a new town with his mother. Typical teen angst ensues while Duncan deals with his mom nagging him to focus on his homework, school bully Troy making his life miserable and figuring out what's going on with his new friend, Ken Rogers . What makes this teen-story different is Duncan

Elizabeth Edwards Funeral To Be Picketed By Westboro Baptist Church

Fucking assholes!!! Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: Elizabeth Edwards Funeral To Be Picketed By Westboro Baptist Church via The Huffington Post | Full News Feed by The Huffington Post News Editors on 12/9/10 Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church will be dispatching members of its congregation to protest the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards this Saturday, CNN reports . The church has generated controversy with its confrontational and offensive demonstrations. "God Hate Fags" has become an unofficial calling card of the group, a phrase they say the world "needs to hear more than it needs oxygen, water and bread." Another Westboro sign, "Thank God For Dead Soldiers," is frequently displayed at military funerals and has created its own share of outrage. In a promotional flier for the upcoming protest, the church references John and Elizabeth Edwards's son Wade, who died in a car crash in 1996: Read More... More on Elizabeth

There Already Was A Ground-Zero Mosque -- On The 17th Floor Of The World Tra...

Check and mate. Sent to you by tony via Google Reader: There Already Was A Ground-Zero Mosque -- On The 17th Floor Of The World Trade Center via current.com top stories on 9/11/10 It turns out there was a Muslim prayer room on the 17th floor of the south tower of the World Trade Center, where Americans and other traveling Muslims prayed every day. On September 11th, 2001, when a handful of terrorists flew planes into the towers, some of the folks who used the room evacuated in time. Others probably didn't. In other words, there already was a "ground zero mosque"--used by Muslim Americans who were murdered just like everyone else. So isn't it time we stopped framing this discussion as "us versus them"? Samuel Freedman has more on the prayer room at the NYT > ( http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/11/nyregion/11religion.html?hp ) added by: toyotabedzrock 144 comments Things you can do from here: Subscribe

Mortal Kombat Finally Gets the Reboot We’ve Been Waiting For

Not a huge fan, but big enough to buy this and play it!!!     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     Mortal Kombat Finally Gets the Reboot We’ve Been Waiting For via Fanboy.com by Tim Sheehy on 6/10/10   I'm sure most of you were expecting to see the  Mortal Kombat: Rebirth  teaser that's been floating around the internet the past few days. Well, instead we have a trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat game that, I could only imagine, would have been announced at E3 next week. This year however, everyone seems to have wanted to let their cats out of their proverbial bags, so we're getting to see this stuff ahead of time — lucky us. While the trailer certainly looks impressive, you have to wonder if the developer is taking its cues from Capcom — taking their classic 2D gameplay and giving it a shiny new 3D skin akin to Street Fighter 4 . If you ask me though, that's probably a good thing. The recent entries into the series have done little in the way of
