I write for myself and I'll say anything I damn well please

Slam!!!     Sent to you by tony via Google Reader:     I write for myself and I'll say anything I damn well please via Letters of Note by Letters of Note on 5/9/11 Back in December of 1996, worried about the influence of Green Day 's "explicit" fourth album, Insomniac , on her 8-year-old son, a mother decided to write a slightly aggressive letter of complaint to the band. It clearly hit a nerve, and she soon received a handwritten response from then-24-year-old frontman Billie Joe Armstrong . Both letters can be seen below. Apparently this exchange inspired the song " Reject ," as found on Green Day's next album, Nimrod . Transcripts follow. Images supplied by Dexter. 'Fridge Purge

So, last week, I had to perform the monthly 'fridge purge; why I've yet to learn that I should drink copious amounts of booze before hand is beyond me. This is not a job for folks with acute senses...unfortunately, all of mine are in perfect working order. Every 'fridge purge is different, every purge is a journey for said senses. To be sure, it is unnatural to for foodstuffs to take on every color of the rainbow, much less natural the spoils of this particular labor to be luminescent and full of vibrant color. Any nature enthusiast would tell that brightly colored things in nature are probably the most dangerous; I posit that many of the enthusiast have never engaged in an office 'fridge purge! Seriously folks, the office 'fridge is like it's own microcosm of sights, sounds and smells. Okay, it's pretty much all smell. For the most part, the office 'fridge is an unassuming "pull my finger" of angry old food that just can...

My Name is...mud if I don't get my sh*t together!

You ever have one of those days where a song gets stuck in your head and you can't shake it no matter how hard you try? Happens to me two or three times a day; I'll get the song in my head and it will loop end to end in my mind until I'm interrupted by something that requires more brain power or another song replaces. Generally, if the song is too annoying, I'll throw another song in the mix to replace said annoying one (generally, "Everyday" by Buddy Holly does the trick). For sure, this is only done for the annoying ones like "Lollipop" by Ronald and Ruby--dammit!!! Now queuing "Everyday" This morning, a piece of a song dropped into my head: "I told her I'd grow up to be a famous rapper Make a record about doin' drugs and name it after her" Of course, that is a line from Eminem's "My Name Is" . I didn't really mind it being in my head; I went ahead with my morning routine of getting ready for work ...

Tendonitis

Saturday, my sister and her husband hosted a fight party (the party was actually a small gathering of his co-workers and a few friends...awesome!) for the Gatti/Mayweather bout (Whoa, Lordy! What a beating!!!). Before the fight, my brother-in-law was lamenting about someone stealing his damn muffin from the office 'fridge @ work. "Drop", my sister said. My brother-in-law stood, walked to a clear area of the living room, dropped into a front leaning rest position and proceeded to knock out 10 push-ups. Turns out, my sister has this new policy, 10 push ups for every curse word uttered in the presence of her child. Sounds reasonable enough. For most of the evening, every male, accept for yours truly, performed several sets of push-ups; persistent potty-mouths paying proper penance per profane pronouncement. I went for hours w/o saying anything that would be considered dirty or improper but eventually, even I succumbed to profanity. I left the beer in the freezer too long and...
